To design a promotional exhibition stall for PPZ, a mall management company for their lush open-air mall called Alembic. This project was part of the MAPIC India 2022 Exhibition held in Jio World Center, Mumbai, India. The client desired a space that felt green, natural and welcoming, while looking professional and tech-forward.
Timeline | Role
6 weeks
I was hired as a freelancer to work for the The One Off, India. With the guidance of senior designers, Sohini Dey and Mamta Khanna, I was involved from the ideation all through to the execution stage. I also served as the primary contact for vendors executing the stall and was able to immerse myself in the process of material selection and technical drawing.
Promotional Relevance
Spread across 10+ cities, PPZ offers holistic mall management solutions in the retail space with ideas and implementation tuned to maximising an asset’s potential. The exhibition's purpose was to promote their mall called Alembic City through B2B connections.

Client Requirements

Zoning through 3 distinct sectors
We needed to demarcate space for PPZ and Alembic City through distinct seating. The middle zone served as a transition space between these different identities.
Real Foliage
The client was adamant on having real plants in the space for it to feel authentically outdoors. They insisted on having a frangipani tree with a communal seating around as a central attraction in the space.
LED screens
Screens were necessary to make the space more modern and play branded promotional content. The client was flexible on having at either one or two screens depending on the design, feasibility and functionality.

Explorations

Option 1
Low height planters focused at the back of the stall along with a storage unit that doubles as a coffee counter. Two screens will be mounted on the wall, one on each side; PPZ and Alembic City.

Option 2
We decided to play around with corner planters and make space for a full-height LED screen at the back. However, we were only able to have two-seaters on the side due to space constraints.

Option 3
Deciding to completely shift planters on the edges, we were able to offset the wall at the back. We also incorporated the charging points into the supports for the ceiling structure.
Approved Docket
The ceiling was decided to be the focal element of the entire design. Large ceiling rings were used to pull attention from the furthest of visitors. Keeping in mind that the layout was that of a corner stall, we added logos and branding on both visitor-facing sides of the stall. We incorporated greenery on the ceiling elements and also added planters on the edges of the stall. This provided the visitors a fresh outdoorsy ambiance right as they stepped in. Most of the lighting was done through task lights and the central LED ring light above the tree.

Front Elevation
Side Elevation
All furniture was made with Rubber wood, a sustainable and renewable source of wood that has a short life-span.
Due to the nature of the project, all of the furniture had to be simple enough to be constructed from parts which could be assembled on-site, within the time-period of two days. For this, we created a detailed document which was then shared with the production team.
